tfheen Tue, 19 Jul 2005 - An excellent day
Today started off with a bit of breakfast, as usual. Karianne left for
an appointment, so I decided to pick up my mail from my father's place.
It started raining a lot just before I was to leave and kept raining
intermittently through the whole day.
The mail was just some bills and a note telling me I had to go to the
local post office to pick up a letter (which I knew, it was my new and
shiny ring which you can get after completing a "sivilingeniør" at NTH
or now NTNU.)

Picked up some books from Amazon at another post office before going
home. Afterwards, a short bicycle ride to look at a prospective
apartment. It was significantly more worn that we expected, so we
turned away fairly quickly. I tried to find a pair of non-jeans
trousers. After having gone through a lot of stores without finding any
I liked, I decided to go home. Karianne called while I was waiting for
the tram, sounding a bit excited about yet another apartment.
Got home, and then we went off to the real estate agent to pick up the
keys. The apartment was nice and Karianne fell completely for it so we
decided to bid for it. An hour or two later, I got a call from the
agent, congratulating me. Yay, new house and no more living in a large
number of boxes.
Called around to parents, Anja and Kristian and told them about it
before we headed out to a pasta restaurant and had a good meal there.
All in all, a really nice day.
tfheen Sun, 17 Jul 2005 - Debconf coming to an end
Slowly, DebConf5 is coming to an end. It's been great fun, I've met new
friends and old friends. There has been interesting discussions about
more or less everything under the sun, and there has been some conflicts
where people (me included) have been singing at six o'clock in the
morning, where people have not done as they've been asked to, but all in
all, I think everybody has had a great time.
It's a bit sad and strange to see people slowly packing their stuff up,
everything from not letting their things be all over the place to people
actually leaving. I'm looking forward to next year and hope it will be
even more fun.
I wish to extend a great thanks to the organisers, with special thanks
to mooch and the people who have made the whole of DebConf5 a smooth
experience. Rock on.
tfheen Fri, 15 Jul 2005 - Debconf 5, so far
Debconf 5 has been a good experience so far. Mostly, at least. Talked
with a lot of people. Many old friend, some new ones. Productive
discussions about everything from how to handle libpam-umask and its
integration with shadow and possible integration with upstream pam to
more or less an reiteration of last year's discussion on how to handle
Debian contributors who are not (package) maintainers. Other stuff
we've done is building a Debian sand castle (with multiarch support),
building multiple pyramids out of empty beer glasses and random other
crazyness.
Karianne had to go home to Oslo today. She didn't feel too well, being
tired and feeling unproductive here. I hope she gets enough rest until
I get home and we can have some nice days before the LARP in the end of
the month.
tfheen Thu, 07 Jul 2005 - Moving and such
It's been a while since I blogged, mostly due to Karianne and I moving
to Oslo. The move itself was fairly painless with about thirty boxes
plus assorted single parts such as seven computers, Karianne's and my
desks. Some furniture is still left in Trondheim so the flat isn't
completely empty when people are coming to see it. We'll pick that up
in late August or beginning of September.
vawad decided that she was lonely and stopped working once I left the
city. Tickling her when we dropped by didn't seem to help so I went to
Trondheim yesterday (by plane), then took her on the train to Oslo.
She's now humming happily along in the offices of Hardware.no. She
needs a little bit of reconfiguration so mail and all floats nicely to
my inbox.
We're going to debconf tomorrow, so today will be a tad busy, but I'm so
looking forward to meeting all the crazy Debian people again
